Pioneer Trail Campground is a group campground with 3 sites just outside the town of Pinecrest.
At an elevation of 5600', Pioneer Trail campground contains 2 sites (Sites 1 & 3) that will accommodate up to 50 people, and another site (Site 2) that will hold up to 100 people. Each site has a fire pit, grills, benches, vault toilet building, tables dedicated to food prep, and large gravel parking area, along with land for pitching tents on.
The campground is set in the trees a couple miles from Pinecrest Lake and day use area. Situated between Pinecrest and Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort, the campground tends to be very popular with recreational visitors to both locations. Those looking to stay here should reserve well in advance. During the summer months, the mountain resort operates a free shuttle between the campground and the resort.
Potable water is available, however there are no showers. The two smaller sites can hold 10-15 cars, while the larger camp site parking area can hold about 20 vehicles.
Managed by the Dodge Ridge Corporation, sites vary in price, with $118 for the smaller sites being the lowest in cost.
During the winter months, the campground is free for camping on a first come, first served basis.
