Pinecrest Campground is a large centrally-located camping area in the Stanislaus National Forest located a short distance from Pincecrest Lake and its day use areas.
With 200 camp sites, Pinecrest is the most popular the area campgrounds. Sites cater to tent, car and RV campers, however there are no electrical or water hook ups. Sites are laid out along several loop roads, each loop dedicated for its own type of camp style. Sites are basic, with only a table and fire ring at each. Drinking water is available at the numerous bathroom buildings which have flush toilets, however no showers are available.
A wide protected multi use path passes by the campground's entrance heading to Meadowview Campground in one direction and the lake area in the other. Short walking paths also lead to the lake area from the campground's eastern end, and a handful of camp sites sit within view of Pinecrest Lake. Most sites are set beneath the forest canopy, with trees creating partitions between neighboring camp sites.
Firewood and ice is available for sale from the entrance station. Amenities such as groceries, restaurants, and recreational facilities are all located just outside the campground near the lake.
Evening campfire programs take place at the outdoor Pinecrest Theater adjacent to the lake.
The campground is open from May through October, contingent upon seasonal conditions. Campers can reserve sites through Recreation.gov in advance.
