Islet Campground is like the quiet middle sibling of the Waldo Lake campgrounds. It isn't notoriously ridden with mosquitos like Shadow Bay Campground,* but isn't nearly as popular as Waldo North Campground. Perhaps it flies under the radar because it is the only one of the three campgrounds that doesn't allow reservations. Either way, it is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend.

Located just south of North Waldo Campground, Islet Campground is tucked into a forest of mountain hemlock right along the lake's shore, and like North Waldo, it is substantially drier and less marshy than Shadow Bay. The campground offers numerous double sites (featuring two picnic tables), a boat ramp/dock, vault toilets, and potable water.

* Although it certainly is not as buggy as the south side of Waldo Lake, the campground still receives its fair share of mosquitos. If you'd prefer to avoid the blood sucking insects, the best time to visit is August and September.

Note: Islet Campground is open from the beginning of June through the last Sunday in September.
