The overnight area of Baker Bay holds plenty of attractive sites for those looking to spend a little more time recreating along the banks of the popular Dorena Reservoir. At first blush this campground does appear rather hastily arranged. Several sites are clustered together near the main entrance where the waste station and campground host hold a disproportionate sway. Follow the campground road around to the right, however, and more enticing opportunities arise. Here the sites gain a little more space between each other and the lakeside sites show up as the real gems of the campground. Fifteen sites are waterfront, just steps away from the reservoir, and these come at an extra $2 premium. All 49 sites are suitable for tents or trailers/RVs, though there are no hookups. Each site comes with the standard picnic table and fire pit, and some double sites would easily be able to accommodate a party of six or more. Potable water, showers, and restrooms are all nearby, and vault toilets are located through out the drive as well.
The entire campground receives good shade from the Douglas firs that tower overhead, but it’s Dorena’s cool water that most visitors want to experience. Baker Bay Park's day use facilities include a boat ramp, several picnic areas, a designated swimming area, and a large concession stand for rentals, firewood, and last minute essentials. Of course, Cottage Grove is just a 15-minute drive away, as well. This area becomes quite popular in the summer, so site reservations are recommended. The campground at Baker Bay is generally open from mid-April through mid-October.
