Shady Grove is a beautiful, well-kept campground located on Lake Lanier near Cumming, Georgia, situated on a forested and slightly hilly peninsula. Many of the 107 available camping sites are positioned right on the lake, with most of these having direct access to the lake. Two fantastic group sites are available, each with a covered pavilion area, making camping as a larger group or with extended family super easy.
Amenities include a private sandy beach with swim area, as well as a boat ramp with courtesy dock. A playground for the kiddos is available as well, along with a grassy volleyball area. Wash houses are well maintained with hot and cold running water and comfortable showers. All of the campsites have electricity, except for many of the tent-only sites, which do not. Most of the grounds is forested, giving plenty of shade and excellent spots to hang a hammock. Early-morning deer sightings are quite common.
The views of the lake are incredible, as is the recreation. Paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing are popular activities and easy to do from many of the waterfront campsites, making for great family-friendly fun. Reservations can be made up to a year in advance, so it is to your advantage to plan ahead to reserve a good waterfront site. Bring some sunscreen, your swimsuit, and a comfy camp chair, and come enjoy all that Lake Lanier and Shady Grove Campground have to offer.
