Amicalola Falls State Park is known for its huge cascading waterfall, which is the tallest east of the Mississippi, and for its grand lodge on a mountaintop. Camping is a great way to experience everything this park has to offer, which includes hiking trails and adventure programs like guided trips, classes, ropes course, ziplining, and more. The campground is located near the Top of the Falls viewing deck and is a short drive from everything else in this fairly compact park. There are no trails that lead directly from the campground, but trailhead parking is not far away.

Though the campground is rather small and sites are close together, most of them offer a fair amount of space. They are all gravel pads built up to be level above a gently sloping hillside in the forest. Some of the sites border a grassy field that is open for play, and the campground also has a small basketball court and horseshoe pit. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. There is one bath house, a pavilion picnic shelter, and dump station.

Sites can be reserved in advance or obtained the day of. Whether you have a reservation or not, stop at the visitor center to check in before proceeding to the campground. Getting there requires a steep road that can be treacherous in bad weather, especially for large RVs and trailers, so use caution.
