The drive-in campground at Buffalo River State Park is located between Moorhead, Minnesota and Detroit Lakes, Minnesota off U.S. Highway 10. The campground has a total of 44 sites. There are 35 sites that have electric hookups with 50, 30, and 20-amp service. There are two wheelchair accessible sites at the campground, one with electricity and one without. The campground does have some trees so most of the sites have partial shade. Most sites are fairly close together so don’t expect much privacy. The campground host is located at campsite number 8E; this site is not reservable. There is also a group site in the park that can accommodate up to 50 people.
Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Firewood is available for sale at the park office. All the sites in the campground are back-in sites and many can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet in length. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campground, except in the restroom.
For campers interested in hiking, the Muskoda Trail and the Bluestem Trail are accessible from the campground. It is also a short walk from the campground to the swimming pond.
The campground has a bathroom and shower buildings. There is a dump station near the campground. The campground is only open during the warmer months.
In addition to the camping fees, there is a fee to enter the park; a day use or annual permit can be purchased at the park office. All the sites can be reserved online or by phone.
