Clear Creek Campground

Although it’s one of the larger campgrounds in Cultus Lake Provincial Park, Clear Creek Campground serves up sites that are remarkably private and feel tucked away. It’s one of the best places to camp in the heat of the summertime—old-growth Douglas fir and broadleaf maple provide ample shade to the 85 campsites and maintain a more agreeable ground temperature.

Sites here are typically able to be reserved between May 10 and September 4. It’s still possible to stay overnight outside of this date range, although some of the amenities like water and security may not be available. Most of the sites are nice and quiet, but you’ll avoid more traffic if you stick to the sites on the far edge of the campground.

Cultus Lake is situated in the transition zone between the Coastal Western Hemlock and Coastal Douglas-fir biogeoclimatic zones. As such, western hemlock dominates the understory along with verdant moss, ferns and a wealth of other wet-climate flora. Truly, it’s like waking up in Narnia. While exploring Cultus Lake Provincial Park, expect to run into the prolific fauna that inhabits it. Blacktail deer, beavers, shrew moles, coyotes, and over 100 species of bird are just some of the wildlife you could encounter.

Cultus Lake is a delight to fisherman. It’s home to trout, Dolly Varden, steelhead, and five types of salmon. If you find yourself without a watercraft, there’s a small town nearby that offers a wealth of amenities and rents stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and other watercraft for reasonable day prices.
