Leavitt Meadows Campground is a Forest Service run campground along Sonora Pass Highway just a few miles from its intersection with 395 along the West Walker River.
The scenic campground is composed of 17 sites along a gravel loop that sits amongst the aspen and Jeffrey pines. Sites are basic, with only a picnic bench, fire pit and locker for food. The campground sits just above the river, and gets visitors for wading and fishing in the river. Several trails orginate adjacent to the campground, crossing a bridge to enter the lake basins and climbing areas nearby.
Leavitt Meadows Campground is usually open from late May through late September, however the exact seasonal dates are contingent upon weather conditions. A host is onsite, and offers firewood for sale.
With the recreational access and the scenic riverside location, Leavitt Meadows is often full. The campground operates on a first come, first served basis.
Potable water and several vault toilets are located in the campground.
No day use parking is available inside the campground - day use guests should continue to the large gravel parking area about 100 yards west on the highway.
