Kern Hot Springs is a secluded backcountry hot spring located along the Kern Wild and Scenic River in Sequoia National Park. The hot spring water flows into  a cement bathtub right alongside the cool rushing river. This is a much welcomed stop along the High Sierra Trail allowing thru-hikers a rare chance to soak their aching muscles in the warm waters. The water from the spring is around 115 degree F (46 degrees C).

This is a remote hot spring that is not accessible by car. Camping is available near the hot spring but you must make sure to stay in a designated backcountry site. Observing Leave No Trace principles is essential for minimizing impact on the hot springs and ensuring future use by others.

GETTING TO THE HOT SPRING

This is a hike-in hot spring that is located along the High Sierra Trail and is at least 20 miles from any of the surrounding trailheads. Access to the hot springs requires a long trek or backpacking trip.
