Caples Lake Campground accommodates a variety of campers - from the RV crowd to modest tent campers looking for a site a short walk from the road and parking areas.
Most of the site sits beneath towering pines, offering a lot of shade. Caples Lake and the Caples Lake Resort are located across the street, and Kirkwood Mountain Ski Resort and only a few minutes away by car.
The campground can accommodate trailers up to 40' in length, while there are also sites for car and tent camping, a few walk-in sites, and one double site. In summer of 2022, there were 29 total sites, though over time this may expand back to the pre-2021 wildfire size of 34 sites as the area surrounding the campground recovers from burn damages. Each camp site has a table and fire pit with grill.
All sites at Caples Lake Campground are first come, first serve, payable at the self pay information kiosk at the campground's entrance. The campground can fill up during peak travel season, and closes altogether during the snowy winter season. The campground generally remains open from June 1st to mid-October, however this depends on snow conditions.
There are mutiple vault toilets and water spigots throughout the campground, however there are no showers.
Amenities and groceries can be found at the resort across the street.
Firewood bundles are available from the camp host for $10.
