Arizona's River Island State Park Campground is a smaller and quieter alternative to many of the busier campgrounds in the Lake Havasu area.
The campground contains 37 sites, most catering to RVs with power and water hook ups. The campground has the benefit of there being a fair amount of space between neighboring RV sites. There are also 8 tent sites on a flat area overlooking the sandy river beach.
River Island State Park is relatively small, and all features of the park and campground are in easy walking distance. Some of these park features include a small cactus garden, covered picnic areas, the river beach, a short hiking trail, a fenced in pet exercise area, and a boat ramp.
Set at a calm curve in the Colorado River, the river beach generally remains calm, and the park offers free use of life jackets. Bathrooms are modern facilities and contain free showers.
Campers should note that park rules require all weekend campers between April 1st and September 30th to reserve both Friday and Saturday nights with a two-night minimum stay. Those looking to camp during Memorial Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends are required to book a three night minimum that includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
