The Burr Trail Switchbacks are a highlight of the iconic Burr Trail, a road that connects Boulder with Bullfrog and travels through some stunning canyon country. During dry weather the Burr Trail switchbacks should be accessible via any vehicle, including passenger car.

The switchbacks lie within the boundary of Capitol Reef National Park. The switchbacks make easy work of getting up or down the monocline, something that wasn’t nearly as easy for early stagecoach travelers crossing the plains.

From the top of the Burr Trail Switchbacks you’ll have a stunning view down to the valleys below and to the Henry Mountains in the distance. There is also a small picnic area near the top of the switchbacks. Lastly, the Lower Muley Twist begins from here and can be explored for a short (or long) hike if desired.
