Accessible via Interstate 84, Pilcher Creek Reservoir Campground is an excellent drive-in camping spot before excursions in the Blue Mountains or Wallowa Mountains. The campground is closed during the winter season, but it's proximity to Anthony Lakes Ski Area cannot be beat. Low brush and tall fir trees surround the reservoir with endless views of the Blue Mountains. The reservoir is perfect for a cool summer dip or for small boats, especially rowboats and canoes. However, the reservoir is dependent upon a rainy winter season for its depth and breadth. Large firs encircle each campsite, providing sufficient shade and privacy from other camps. A rolling hill in the middle of this day use and camping area also enables more privacy. Wildlife such as elk and deer frequent the site, and it is possible to enjoy a night of sleeping with coyotes howling in the distance. This is a pack-in and pack-out primitive campground with vault toilets. There is no water on site, so be sure to bring enough water for your camping needs. Campfires are permitted when conditions allow. Bring your own campfire wood, and check with the ranger station before your trip during dry seasons.
