Harms Park, on the north shore of Dorena Reservoir, provides opportunities to fish, explore the area, or just relax by the water. This location is the original site of the town of Dorena. It was moved in the 1940s when the Army Corps of Engineers built a dam on the Row River and created the reservoir in an effort to help with flood control downstream.
Now the 1,800-acre reservoir is a popular recreation spot with multiple access points. Besides recreational opportunities, the lake is also home to many wildlife species including waterfowl, deer, song birds, and even bald eagles and osprey.
Harms Park is a day use area that includes picnic tables, vault toilets, and a boat ramp. The Row River National Recreation Trail passes by the park and provides an opportunity to explore more of region by foot, bike or horseback. Baker Bay Park located on the south side of the reservoir has more amenities such as camping and a marina, but it is also busier.
Note that the boat ramp is subject to seasonal closures as water levels decline in winter.
