Angel Lake Campground is a scenic high elevation camping area consisting of 26 sites near the Angel Lake recreation area.
All sites are basic, with a table, fire pit and grill. Each site is a simple pull-in parking spot. The campground, situated at around 8500' in elevation, straddles the landscape between the Angel Lake glacial tarn at the base of peaks that jut another 2000' into the air, and the slope down to the Clover Valley and the town of Wells below. As such, this campground can often get windy and cold during the evenings.
There are no refills at either the campground, or the recreation area. A short path leads from the west end of the campground through the brush to the lake which is popular for fishing. A parking area just outside of the campground is the trailhead for the Smith Lake Trail.
There is no water available at the campground. Two small vault toilet buildings serve the campground.
The campground has an assortment of single and double sites. Angel Lake Campground can often be popular during summer months. Reservations are suggested as the campground can frequently hit capacity during the warmer months.
Angel Lake Campground is open seasonally from mid-June to early September.
