Tucson Mountain Park is a beautiful 22,000-acre park managed by Pima County. Located just west of Tucson on the scenic Gates Pass Road, the park gives the camper a feeling of remote solitude while being just a 20-minute drive from shopping, gas, and other necessities. The sites have 30A electric connections, but there are no water or sewer hookups. Tent campers will appreciate the lack of noisy generators! Restrooms are clean and modern, but they do not have showers or laundry facilities.
The campground is quite spread out, and the spaces are large. This distribution gives nearly every site a sense of privacy in addition to great views of the surrounding desert and mountains. The campground roads are wide and consist of one-way loops for easy maneuvering. This is a great place for kids to ride bikes, skateboards, or scooters, and there is also plenty of easy walking for adults and their dogs. From the campground, there is direct access to Tucson Mountain Park's extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails for all interests and abilities.
Nearby attractions (within 3 miles) are Old Tucson, an authentic movie set that is now a theme park, the highly rated Sonoran Desert Museum, and the western section of Saguaro National Park with its excellent trails and programs. The greater Tucson area provides an incredible wealth of recreational opportunities, parks, and historic places.
