The Catfish Loop in Clarence Fahnestock State Park, New York is an easy trail and one of the few loop trails that does not incorporate other trails to complete the loop.  There is not much elevation gain and only a few very rocky areas.   Sections of the loop near the trailhead tend to flood after rain and may stay flooded for several days.

The loop can be done in any direction.  Going clockwise, follow the red trail markers and watch the loop to break off left from the Appalachian Trail, which share the same trailhead.  This beginning part is often flooded after rain so plan accordingly.  The route does not have any view points but the trail is dotted along the way with glacier erratics and several old stone boudnry walls.

It is a nice trail that sees very little traffic.
