From the Canopus Lake parking lot, cross route 301 and enter the forest on the Appalachian Tail (AT, white markers).  Stay on the AT for .5 miles.  Watch on the left for the Fahnstock Trail (blue markers) as it starts through an uphill rocky outcropping.  Follow the Fahnstock Trail for 1 mile until a junction with the Charcoal Burners Trail (red markers).

Turn left on the Charcoal Burners Trail and follow for nearly 1 mile to a junction with the Perkins Trail (yellow markers).  Follow the Parkins Trail through a newly constructed parking lot to Glynnwood Farm.  Here there is an easement through the farm property.  Stay within the fence.  A section of fence on the left has warnings that it is electrified. After about one mile, the trail leaves the easement and makes way down to Clove Creek.  The trail follows Clove Creek for less than one mile until a narrow section where the creek can be crossed.

Croos the creek and Glynnwood Road to a steep section of the Perkins Trail.  At the top of the steep section, the trail turns into a forest road.  Follow for .35 miles where the Perkins Trail joins the Fahnstock Trail.  Stay on the forest road which is now the Fahnstock Trail.  Stay on the Fahnstock Trail for 2 miles until the trail joins with the Charcoal Burners Trail at Beaver Pond.

From Beaver Pond it is 1.3 miles on the Fahnstock Trail until it meets back with the AT where this loop started.  Take the AT sout for one mile and back to the parking lot.
