The Wedekind Regional Park Loop trail circles the open space area that straddles Sparks and Spanish Springs in the northeast area of Reno.

Designated as a park on Bureau of Land Management land that lies in an easily accessible area, the variety of trails carved onto the regional park area is open to hikers and non-motorized cyclists, with some of the trails climbing to high points of hills and vista points beneath shade covers. While there are no officially designated trails once inside the park area, signs located at various trailheads do map out several interchangable sections of trails, as well as displaying the difficulty of each section. This track contains a circular route that passes one vista point, skirts several old mining areas, and rounds a couple high points which can easily be tacked onto this trail.

The trail follows hard packed dirt as it climbs and weaves through several of the boulder strewn hills within the park area. Much of the path overlooks neighboring homes, though the vast open area immediately adjacent, as well as in the distance in each direction, puts into perspective the urban area's relatively small footprint on the landscape. Dog walkers frequent the lower areas, but those heading up to the higher elevations will frequently find themselves alone on the trails in this area.

With a number of different trails networking through the park, it is possible for visitors to create their own path, or combine this loop with spurs to other high points.

There is no water available and no shade along the hike.
