The Tarn Loop is a must hike add-on to the Blue Lake hike. The short loop provides spectacular views down to Blue Lake and across to the impressive Liberty Bell Group of mountains. Note that the mileage listed for this hike does not include the initial hike in to Blue Lake, where the Tarn Loop Trail begins.

From Blue Lake, the Tarn Loop Trail climbs a bit to a stunning viewpoint. You’ll then loop around through some beautiful Larch forest. While this is a fantastic hike during the summer, it gets even better during the fall when the Larches begin to change color, turning the landscape into a golden spectacle.

The trail continues around the small Tarn after which the loop is named, then provides a vantage out across Highway 20 below and toward Whistler Mountain and Cutthroat Peak.

The trail then descends back down to Blue Lake where the short loop comes to an end.
