Chain of Lakes Campground once used to be a maintained Forest Service campground, but has fallen out of commission. It is now a dispersed camping area offering free camping.

The campground is located along the shores of one of the several lakes that makes up the Chain of Lakes. These lakes are more like small ponds, but still enjoyable. There is also a trailhead here where the High Lakes Trail takes off from and leads to Horseshoe Lake and beyond.

There are only about 3 true campsites, but campers can find more room to set up if necessary. Two of the sites still have picnic tables, but aside from this there are no amenities at the Chain of Lakes Campground, not even a vault toilet.

This campground is perfect for those looking for a secluded camping experience. If you would rather stay at a more developed campground with nicer campsites I’d recommend checking out nearby Takhlakh Lake Campground.
