Chapel of the Transfiguration

The historic Chapel of the Transfiguration is not only a great place to soak up the history within Grand Teton National Park, it is also an active Episcopal church that still holds services. The small chapel sits just next to the Menor's Ferry Historic District near the southern entrance to the park. The views of the Grand Tetons in the background will definitely inspire a sense of spirituality, regardless of your faith. You may enter the chapel even when services are not being held, but please be respectful of the grounds. A small church bell sits above the entrance to the grounds and has welcomed locals and tourists since the doors opened in 1925. The early residents had to take their wagons across a rough 12-mile road into the town of Jackson prior to the building of the chapel. In 1980 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and several movies have been filmed on its grounds over the years.
