Texas Falls is one of the most photographed waterfalls in Vermont, and for good reason. Not only is it beautiful and unique, but it is also very easy to get to. It is right next to the road, but you will almost forget this as you gaze into this narrow stone gorge formed by the rushing water.
Texas Falls is notable for the walled-in cascades and potholes eroded into the rocks. The cascades and pools have cut so far down that you can barely see anything from an angle, but by walking the bridge over the creek you can get a view straight into it.
The rocks are slippery and the vegetation is fragile, so for safety's sake you should remain on the fenced-in trail. There are plenty of good views along the trail both above and below the falls.
Don't miss out on the 1.2-mile nature trail loop, which begins at the waterfall and follows a well-marked path through the lush and diverse forest of the Green Mountains. The trail connects with the picnic area before returning along the road to the waterfall.
From the main parking area you can walk a short distance up the road or the trail to this picnic area, which has a few well-shaded tables and grills right next to the stream.
Texas Falls is a must-make stop if you are traveling this part of the Green Mountains because of its scenery and proximity to the highway.
