Kinnikinnick (Laurance Lake) Campground provides a relatively quiet and secluded camp area on the northeast side of Mount Hood. With 20 campsites, which are all on or very near to the shoreline, all campsites will make for a good trip. If you bring a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard, it will be no more than 100 yards from any site to launch your vessel in the lake. Also, there are hiking options from this camp that explore the base of Mount Hood.

When it comes to the weather, this campground can be slightly difficult to judge. Since it’s on the backside of Mount Hood, there can be small microclimates that form. Mild wind and rain could be possible here even if conditions are hot and sunny in Government Camp and Hood River. Also, at an elevation of 3,000 feet, this area can cool down significantly at night.
