The Frary Homestead

The Frary Homestead is a historic site on Antelope Island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake. A small grave marker and a plaque commemorating the pioneer family are all that exists out here along with some interpretative signs that let people know what life was like out here in the late 1800s. There are a few items scattered about the area that belonged to the pioneers, but make sure to leave them where they lie. The half-mile hike is simply a dusty trail with a slight gain as you approach the former homestead. Frary Peak sits in the background above the area as well as a grouping of trees that apparently sit above a fresh water spring, according to a map on one of the signs. There is not much to see out here, but the views are nice, and so is the perspective of how tough life must have been for our ancestors only a few generations ago.
