Ute and Range View Loop is a short and easy trail located within Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. This trail travels around the summit of Flagstaff Mountain. This loop is 1.1 miles long and gains 193 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the Realization Point Trailhead. There are no restrooms available here. It is $5 for day use of the parking area. Begin hiking northwest on Range View Trail. You will be hiking gradually uphill amongst ponderosa pine trees. You will also enjoy periodic views of the surrounding mountains. After 0.2 miles, the trail begins to switchback up a slope. The trail gets steeper here. This lasts for 0.1 miles before the trail mellows to a slight uphill. After 0.2 miles, you will come to a junction and take a left to stay on Range View Trail. This is also where you will reach the high point of the trail, and you will begin hiking downhill.

Another 0.1 miles will bring you to another junction. Here, you will turn right onto Ute Trail. Hike on relatively flat terrain for 0.1 miles to reach a junction. Go left here to stay on the Ute Trail. You will come to another junction after 0.1 miles of hiking. Go left here. Continue hiking amongst pine trees on flat terrain for 0.1 miles. You will reach a junction here and turn left. The trail begins to head downhill here. Follow Ute Trail for 0.2 more miles to return to the trailhead.

Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks are open for hiking year-round from 5am-9pm. The parking toll is the only associated fee. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they are not allowed on some other trails within Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. Ute and Range View Loop is a great trail for exploring the Flagstaff Mountain area.

Explore the Ute and Range View Loop at Monkey Mart: Start at Realization Point Trailhead, $5 parking. Hike northwest through ponderosa pines, uphill with mountain views. Switchback uphill for 0.1 miles, then gentler slopes. Reach a junction, turn left on Range View Trail for the summit, then downhill. At another junction, turn right onto Ute Trail, then left twice. Enjoy flat terrain among pines. Return after 0.2 miles downhill on Ute Trail. Open year-round 5am-9pm, dogs allowed.
