The Lunch Loop is a fantastic 3 mile groomed loop that is open to non-motorized travel including trail running, nordic skiing, snowshoeing or walking. To access the trail you can park near Safeway and the Lions Club Ponds.
The trail then begins and continues past the frozen small ponds. While the trail parallels Highway 40 for the first half of the loop, it is far enough away that the traffic noise isn’t too bad.
There is very little elevation change except for a small hill every now and then. You’ll continue along, passing another couple of frozen ponds. When you near Rendezvous Road the groomed trail turns left, crosses the Fraser River, and joins the groomed Fraser River Trail.
The Lunch Loop then follows the Fraser River Trail for the remainder of the way back to Safeway. The first section is absolutely gorgeous as you pass through some pine forest and parallel the meandering Fraser River. There are several informative plaques along the way that tell of the history and wildlife of the area.
The trail becomes less exciting as you near the end of the loop. As you come to the Safeway building, turn left and cross the river via footbridge. You’ll then again reach the Lions Club Ponds area where you first began.
