Javelina Rocks Overlook is a scenic stop along Cactus Forest Drive in Saguaro National Park’s Rincon Mountain District which is east of Tucson, Arizona. The overlook is located between mile markers six and seven of the 8-mile-long Cactus Forest Drive.

The rocks are named after the javelina, a medium-sized animal that looks similar to a wild boar. The javelinas and other small animals use the layered rocks here for shade and shelter.

The rocks here are composed of an ancient granite called Catalina Gneiss. There are many unofficial trails that allow visitors to explore the Javelina Rocks and view the Tucson basin, the Catalina Mountains, and the Sonoran Desert. Javelina Rocks Overlook is one of the best places to watch the sunset in the Rincon Mountain District of Saguaro National Park.

Since the Javelina Rocks Overlook is located within Saguaro National Park a fee is required to enter the park. The park is open year-round.
