Wyeth Campground is larger and more popular than neighboring Herman Creek and Eagle Creek Campgrounds. Campsites here are much more spacious well distributed, as well. Further, there are three group sites available that are great options if the larger sites aren’t large enough. Wyeth also enjoys a broad lawn area at the north end; normally this is open space that adds to the campground's ambience, but the area also functions as an overflow camping area during crowded nights (tent sites are $5 per night). Obviously the campground gets significant traffic, but it is also clean and well-designed, and thus it may not feel as overcrowded as most. When you consider this with the trail access from the trailhead located just north of the campground, Wyeth is a great option and worth a look (unfortunately reservations are not possible).
Wyeth campground is open from May 1 through September 30.
The group sites at the campground are fantastic. The noise from the highway is noticeable for sure, but it didn't detract from a nice night of camping near Portland.
