The giant redwoods of Richardson Grove State Park are an enchanting sight to behold. Better yet is spending a day among them followed by a soothing night’s sleep beneath their towering canopy. Year-round Huckleberry Campground offers just that with campsites spread among idyllic virgin old-growth. One of three camps within the park, Huckleberry offers 36 sites that accommodate RVs up to 30 feet/trailers up 24 feet (no hookups). The campground offers restrooms with flush toilets, and showers are available.

Beyond the towering redwoods, summertime campers will enjoy relaxing at one of the nearby South Fork of the Eel River swimming holes, the same holes that attract steelhead and salmon anglers in winter. Multiple hiking options are nearby as well. Make sure to check out the Grove Nature Trail to see Richardson Grove’s tallest trees, the summer accessible Toumey Trail to get some time along the river and the Lookout Point Trail to get an elevated vantage of the landscape.
