Lake Wissota State Park is just over 1000 acres in size and is located near the city of Chippewa Falls. The park is on the northeast shore of Lake Wissota which is a reservoir on the Chippewa River. Recreational activities enjoyed by visitors include picnicking, camping, hiking, off-road biking, horse-back riding, swimming, boating, and fishing.
With the park being located right on Lake Wissota, water-based activities are very popular. The park has a boat launch with a parking area for vehicles with boat trailers. There is an accessible fishing pier near the boat launch. Fish species in Lake Wissota include walleyes, muskies, bass, panfish, northern, catfish and sturgeon. The park offers canoes for rent. There is also a sandy swimming beach not far from the boat landing.
The drive-in family campground at Lake Wissota State Park has 116 campsites, 58 of those have electric hookups. Two of the campsites are handicap accessible. There are also two group sites available. The campground has showers and a dump station that are open during the warm months
There are over 18 miles of hiking trails in the park and around nine miles of shared trails that allow for off-road biking and horseback riding. During the winter visitors can enjoy eight miles of cross-country ski trails that are groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The park also has around 10 miles of trails open for snowshoeing. Lake Wissota State Park has 5 miles of snowmobile trails; these trails connect to the Chippewa County snowmobile trail system
The park is open year-round. A fee is required to enter the park. A Wisconsin state park day use or annual permit can be purchased at the Park Office. Dogs are allowed in all areas of the park, except for in buildings, playgrounds, beaches, and picnic areas. Dogs must when kept on a leash 8 feet long or shorter.
