Rainy Lake is a beautiful large lake located just off Highway 20 in the North Cascades. It is accessed via a 1 mile, ADA accessible paved pathway from Rainy Pass Trailhead. This area is very popular, in part due to the easy access, but also because of the stunning beauty. While you certainly won’t find solitude along this hike, it is still well worth it.

Begin from the trailhead and follow the signs and paved pathway to Rainy Lake. The pathway leads gently through the forest until arriving at the lake.

The path comes to an end at the northern tip of the lake where there is a viewpoint and bench. An unpaved use trail continues around the lake for a short distance further.

The lake is stunning, located in a bowl with mountains soaring on three sides. The lake is especially beautiful during the fall when surrounding vegetation is changing colors, including the Larch Trees.

After enjoying the lake, return the way you came to the trailhead.
