It’s a stretch to call the Happy Creek Forest Walk a proper hike, but it is such a lovely short adventure through a beautiful old growth forest that it cannot be missed! The trailhead is located right off Highway 20. Most of this loop is on a boardwalk, but there is a short section of natural surface trail. For those looking for a longer adventure, the hike to Happy Creek Falls can be added onto the loop.

At the parking lot you’ll find an informative sign telling a brief summary of the area. The ADA accessible boardwalk then leads into the old growth forest.

You’ll find yourself surrounded by beautiful towering trees including Western Hemlock, Western Red Cedar, Vine Maple, and of course Douglas Fir.

You’ll follow alongside a small babbling brook before the boardwalk ends and a short section of natural surface trail begins.

The boardwalk resumes shortly thereafter and returns to the parking lot where the loop concludes.
