Cedar Falls is an enjoyable hike that leads to a beautiful waterfall. The hike to the waterfall is only 3.5 miles round trip, but the Cedar Creek Trail continues much further if you wish to explore beyond.
Begin from the Cedar Falls Trailhead, not far off Highway 20.
The trail climbs steadily but it is a nice, well graded path. A lot of this area has been burned by fires, but it is still quite scenic. The understory is especially colorful during autumn.
Continue for about 1.75 miles until you reach an unmarked and easy to miss junction to the left. You’ll also be able to hear the waterfall at this point.
Follow the side trail to the left which will take you just above the falls. Cedar Creek cascades gently over some shallow stairsteps before plunging over the 40 foot waterfall.
There is a use path that leads to a viewpoint of the waterfall, but use caution around the cliffs. You can also find your way to viewpoint of a lower waterfall.
After enjoying the scenic falls, return the way you came back to the trailhead.
