Stretch Island can be reached from a handful of different put-in locations along North Bay and the Case Inlet. Perhaps the most convenient place to start is the Fair Harbor Marina near both Stretch and Reach Islands. Stretch Island offers a scenic and protected paddle throughout the entire year with shorelines comprised of forested slopes and quiet beach homes. On the northeastern point of the island is Stretch Point State Park, a small yet strangely secluded beach with a lone picnic table for boaters in the area. The park is only accessible by boat, and during the winter months boaters can expect to have the secluded point to themselves. Paddling around Stretch Island offers views of the Olympic Mountains as well as Mount Rainier on clear days. Kayakers should note, however, that during low tides, the passage between Stretch Island and the peninsula can become impassable.
