Red Mountain Campground is ideally located in Okanogan-Wentachee National Forest right along the Cle Elum River. This campground is not highly used and only has 10 single camp sites. Each site has a grill, a fire pit, and a picnic table. All of the campsites face the water, and eight of them are right along the river with access to the pebble beach. Though this campground only has basic amenities, the location and river access makes this campground worth the stay. You can find rainbow and cutthroat trout in the river for those wishing to fish, and the rocky bank is perfect for exploring. Douglas fir and cedar surround the open campsites, and a few sites are tucked away in the trees for those looking for more shade.
Down the road from the campsites is a designated day use picnic area that offers access to the river. The spot is popular for inner tubing, fishing, and panning for gold. If all sites are occupied, there are several nearby campgrounds on Salmon La Sac road to check out.
