Lacamas Creek Park

Though a modest 325 acres, Lacamas Creek Park is a must see for anyone living in the Portland area!  The majority of the land is an incredible wilderness preserve in spite of its location in central Camas.  Unlike some of this area’s other nature parks, including Forest Park, Tryon Creek, Powell Butte or Tualatin Hills, Lacamas Creek Park boasts plenty of substantial waterfalls, a reservoir and old-growth Douglas firs.  You will also enjoy the exposed rock outcroppings that are home to the beautiful and delicate camas, a variety of native lily for which the Washington town was named.  Beyond the popular summer swimming holes found along Lacamas Creek, there are more than 9 miles of trails for hikers and mountain bikers alike.  Get on the Lacamas Creek Loop Trail to experience all of what the park has to offer.

Although the park’s natural wonders are certainly a draw, it isn’t short on urban attractions either.  A large playground, grilling and picnic areas with nearby restrooms, and an ad-hock BMX park reflect the park's role as a local resource for Camas.

Caution:  Although Lacamas Creek is a popular summer swimming destination, safety should always be your number one priority.  The Creek doesn’t have any lifeguards, and flow rates can be quite rapid near Pothole Falls and the Lower Falls.  Know your swimming abilities, always swim in groups and be sure to keep away from falls.
