If you're a kid (or even if you're not), Green Lake is north central Seattle's best summer playground. Where else will you find relatively warm, clear water, two sandy beaches, ample lawn to lay out your beach towel, two diving board islands (each featuring a 10-foot high dive), summer concession stands, public restrooms, and even a wading pool for the toddlers?

Note: Full-time lifeguards are present at both the west and east beaches during the summer months from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends and from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. The areas are technically open for public swimming from late June to the end of August. Call 206.684.4075 for specific dates and more details.
