Located in the center of Dash Point State Park on the western edge of Federal Way, Dash Point State Park Campground is built to handle the masses. With 114 car and tent campsites, 27 utility sites, an ADA accessible site, and an extremely large group site, few campgrounds in the area have the ability to host so many visitors with ease. And although the campground fits a lot of sites into a relatively small area, each site is surrounded by lush vegetation that provides an ideal amount of privacy.
Accommodating up to 96 people, the group site located on the north side of SW Dash Point Road is certainly a rarity. Separated from the rest of the campground, this site is actually comprised of 12 individual sites that are oriented around a central campfire circle and gathering area. RVs are permitted in the group site, but a special permit is required and should be reserved 30 days prior to visit.
From the campground, visitors will enjoy playing on the central lawn, hiking along miles of trails, setting up a picnic, or simply relaxing along the Puget Sound beach. During the summer month weekends, ranger programs at the amphitheater typically cover themes such as "Living with Nature," where campers can learn about local owls, bats, nutria, and even saltwater reefs.
Note: Dash Point State Park Campground is open year round. Call 253.661.4955 to reserve the group campsite or one of the park's two picnic shelters. Also note that pricing for the group campsite is variable based on the total number of guests.
