Blind Island State Park is a small island nestled between Shaw Island and Orcas Island in Blind Bay, an area closed to commercial crabbing but reportedly a great place to drop a crab pot if you brought one along. While Blind Island may not be a destination in itself, it's worth checking out either as an overnight stop on a longer trip, such as circumnavigating Shaw Island, or just a quick stop to have lunch on it's rocky coast. The island, which used to be a small homestead, hosts a variety of fruit trees presumably planted by its previous occupant. Kayakers interested in visiting Blind Island State Park usually either come from Odlin County Park on Lopez Island, which is more protected, or from Friday Harbor, which involves a crossing of the San Juan Channel.
