Bird Lake Campground, which is managed by the Yakima Nation tribe, acts as an excellent basecamp for a multitude of nearby hikes on and to Mount Adams, most notably Bird Creek Meadows and Hellroaring canyon. Most campsites provide quick shore access and a view of the lake. Additionally, most sites are adequately separated from one another and are a short walk from potable water and vault toilets. The Yakima Nation stocks Bird Lake with trout, and local rules and regulations can be found on the Yakama Nation Mount Adams Recreation Area website. From Bird Lake, trails 105 or 100 are the best options for accessing Bird Creek Meadows and Hellroaring viewpoint.
