The South Marina Campground is one of three campgrounds located within Willard Bay State Park. Willard Bay is located right off Interstate 15, slightly north of Ogden, Utah. Fishing, boating and swimming are all extremely popular activities here. There are two marina areas (north and south) within the state park with the northern area offering more amenities.
Willard Bay Reservoir is a 9,900 acre body of freshwater that rests atop the Great Salt Lake flood plain. It is separated from the Great Salt Lake by an earth filled dike that was constructed to store water from the Ogden and Weber rivers so that it could be used for irrigation, drinking water, and recreation. The area opened to the public as a state park in 1966.
The South Marina Campground offers 34 campsites. 10 of these sites are tent only. Each tent site offers a grassy area to pitch camp, as well as a picnic table and fire ring. Shade is provided by either large trees or a manmade shade structure over the picnic table.
The remaining 24 campsites offer full hookups, and include a group site and 2 “Glamping Trailer” sites that have camp trailers already in place and can be rented. In addition to the full hookups, all these sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Some also have a BBQ grill. Many sites also have a manmade shade structure built over the picnic tables.
For more camping options be sure to check out the Willow and Cottonwood campgrounds in the North Marina area.
