Red Canyon, located near Bryce Canyon National Park, is an incredibly scenic area with hoodoos, red/pink cliffs, and pockets of ponderosa pines. In addition, the area usually receives far fewer visitors than the national park. A handful of short trails can be used to explore, but the area is best discovered by linking several of these trails together to form a 2.1 mile loop.

Begin by parking in the large lot by the visitor center that is open seasonally. A counter-clockwise hike of this loop begins on the Pink Ledges Trail. This path starts at the far end of the parking lot and climbs a bit toward some pink hued rock formations.

The loop then joins the Hoodoo Trail for a short distance before following the Birdseye Trail. During this stretch you’ll have views of intriguing hoodoos both near and far.

The Photo Trail makes up the second to last segment of this loop and leads down to a roadside parking area along Highway 12. Cross the road here and join up with the Red Canyon Bicycle Trail as it heads east and offers great views of some distant hoodoos. Hop back across the road when you see the visitor center and parking lot to end the loop.
