The Museum of the San Rafael Swell cultivates a rich selection of natural and cultural history from the region. Located in the town of Castle Dale, this museum offers an exceptional pit stop to anyone travelling to the Swell via Price, UT.
The museum’s exhibits fall under 3 general topics: cultural history, life history, and earth history. Regarding the region’s cultural history, you will find detailed exhibits and artifacts of each of the native tribes which inhabited the region. There is also a historical account of the later Spanish and Mormon settlers. A rich life history, past and present, is given through the museum’s paleontology wing as well as taxidermy exhibits of present day wildlife. Finally, the museum’s geology exhibits paints a vivid picture of the Colorado plateau throughout earth’s history.

Castle Dale is roughly 40 miles south of Price, UT. From Castle Dale, travelers can continue on to the San Rafael Swell (roughly 1 hour) via I-70 East, which roughly 30 minutes south of the town.
