Yukwah Campground

Like nearby Fernview Group Campground, Yukwah Campground is located right on the South Santiam River in a heavily forested area just off of Highway 20. This 20-site campground is also managed by Linn County and has sites available for reservation. The campground is arranged in a large loop, with roughly half of the sites facing the South Santiam (and several of these are ADA-accessible). Vault toilets are located throughout the loop, and potable water is available. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit; there are no hookups in Yukwah, though the sites are large enough to accommodate trailers up to 32 feet.

This is essentially a straightforward Forest Service campground in terms of amenities, which is just fine because the location is what really sets Yukwah apart. The proximity to this beautiful stretch of the South Santiam is the main attraction. Several sites are just steps away from the water, and a day use area is features a short ADA trail that leads to a fishing platform and a broad pool. The fishing is known to be good here, but it’s also an ideal spot for children to splash around: shallow, calm, and shaded by the gigantic maples and Douglas firs that reach over the water. If you are searching for more activity, trails into the Menagerie Wilderness are close by: try the popular Rooster Rock Hike near Fernview or the Trout Creek Trailhead near the Trout Creek Campground. If bigger swimming holes are in order, Cascadia State Park is just a short drive away.

Yukwah has 13 sites that are available for reservations, and the campground is generally open from the beginning of May through mid-October.
