The Timothy Lake Loop Trail is a 13-mile total tour of the lake.  Throughout the relatively level hike you'll stay very close to the shoreline, cross streams and catch tremendous views of Mount Hood.  If the Loop Trail is too long, there are several shorter options: the Miller Trail leaves from the lake's south shore and leads 2.3 miles to the spectacularly tranquil Clackamas Lake, and a 4.4 mile stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail leads from the Oak Fork Campground to Little Crater Lake.  This hike is a little more strenuous, but the views are terrific and there are plenty of swimming opportunities.
