Lazy Bend Campground

Lazy Bend Campground is the first of several campgrounds that rest along the banks of the Clackamas Wild and Scenic River as you approach from Estacada. As such, the campground receives more traffic than others in the area, but it also comes with some perks. Lazy Bend is arguably maintained better than others, and it is the only campground on the Clackamas River with flushing toilets.

Most campsites are designated for tent camping only, and though some are large enough to accommodate a small RV, no hook-ups are provided. Each site has a campfire ring with a grill and a picnic table. Potable water is also provided. For those who don't mind carrying their gear a couple hundred feet, several walk-in tent sites are a good option. These sites back up against the rocky but level river bank and provide plenty of space. Being only 10 miles from Estacada, these sites offer the most immediate sense of being disconnected from the city, cars, etc.

Recreation opportunities are abundant! Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, boating and swimming are all options along the Clackamas River or nearby North Fork Reservoir. Whether completed in part or in its entirely, the 7.8-mile Clackamas River Trail  is a great way to experience the river and trees of the Mount Hood National Forest. The trail begins at nearby Fish Creek Campground and ends at Indian Henry Campground. 

If Lazy Bend Campground is full or you prefer a more remote campground, consider neighboring Armstrong, Lockaby, Carter Bridge or any of the more removed, upper Clackamas River campgrounds such as Ripplebrook, Rainbow or Riverside Campground.

Note: Lazy Bend Campground is open from April 19 through October 13.
