Of the 11 campgrounds along the Metolius River, Allen Springs Campground certainly ranks as one of the best tent camping destinations and ought to be among the most coveted campgrounds along the river.  Set under the dappled light of gigantic old-growth ponderosa pines, the campground features nine very spacious walk-in sites that can't be reserved but which are open for use year-round.  In total there are 16 campsites and all but three are located adjacent to the river.

Should the campsites be full, try Pioneer Ford Campground, Lower Bridge Campground, or Candle Creek Campground just down river.

Note: Allen Springs Campground is open year-round.

Thanks Mallory! We've added reservation information to this adventure.
FYI-it looks like you can now reserve some of these spots, starting this summer. Some are still walk up but others are reservable.
