Rock Garden Falls is a picturesque 15- to 20-foot waterfall that forms on an unnamed waterway on Giant Mountain. The waterfall was given this name in a guidebook due to its resemblance to a Japanese rock garden.
Rock Garden Falls can barely be seen from the road and is easy to miss. Parking is located along the road and requires a 5-yard walk into the tree-line to see it.
Water spills over the top of a granite wall and flows down the rock face where it meets a second section that turns into a second drop. Some of the water finds its way through cracks along the sides and flows out of the massive wall at different points.
Parking, in the form of large pull-offs on each side of the road, is found near the trailhead for the Zander Scott Trail on Giant Mountain, twelfth on the list of 46 High Peaks in the Adirondacks at 4,627 feet.
Just a few hundred feet down the road is Chapel Pond, which is a popular location for rock and ice climbing on Round Mountain as well as swimming, fishing and kayaking in warmer weather. Also nearby the waterfall is Beede Brook that rises from Rocky Peak, which is twentieth on the list of Adirondack High Peaks at 4,420 feet. Beede Brook contains a few waterfalls further up, but it requires a bushwhack or rock hop up the brook to access them.
